A Beat Goes On Exclusive Feature!

Dave Wright asks: You would think this
would be easy to find out, but I can't... Who
played bass on the various Doors albums?
And did the Doors ever use a bass player
in concert? I don't think so, and I am still
just young enough never to have been
able to see them live.

Alan Sez: The Doors never performed with a
bassist live; keyboardist Ray Manzarek handled
all the bass lines instead. However, the band
did have some help in the studio. Here's a list
of session players that showed up on the
Doors six studio albums:

The Doors (1967) - Larry Knechtal
Strange Days (1967) - Doug Lubahn
Waiting For The Sun (1968) - Doug Lubahn,
Kerry Magness
The Soft Parade (1969) - Harvey Brooks
Morrison Hotel (1970) - Ray Neopolitan,
Lonnie Mack
L.A. Woman (1971) - Jerry Scheff
