Thomas Asks:
What's up with the new Nine Inch Nails CD? Is the colour changing of the disc new or has there been others like i?. And what's with all the encryptions lately that Trent is doing?
Alan answers:
The “Thermo-Chrome disc” is all part of one of the cleverest CD marketing schemes I’ve ever seen. It all started with some new songs being leaked to the general public through a USB key that was “accidentally” left in the bathroom at a gig in Portugal. Since then, the public has been led on a massive, high-tech scavenger hunt for clues leading to...something. There’s way too much going on to cover everything here, so look up “Year Zero (album)”on Wikipedia for more details.
Aaron Asks:
Years ago I had a Greatest Hits of Al Hirt cassette which had a song called “Bad Penny Blues” on it. What a great tune! Sadly, that tape is long since lost, and I cannot currently find any album or collection of Hirt's that contains that song. I've checked the usual sources, with no luck. Do you have any other suggestions on finding this track? Thanks!
Alan Answers:
I remember playing a lot of Al Hirt at my first-ever radio job many, many years ago (“Java” was a favourite). All we had were some ancient vinyl records, one of which contained “Bad Penny Blues,” written and released by Humphrey Lytellton in 1956 (which, by the way, is credited with being the inspiration for the piano bit in “Lady Madonna.”) There are many versions of the Lytellton recording available, but apparently none available of Al Hirt’s recording. Does anyone have any leads?
Jenna Asks:
Hello. I have been searching for the title/artist of a particular song for five months without any luck. I hope you will be able to help me find it. I have a link to a video with the song on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3woP7NAPri4
You can hear the song clearly at 0:22.
Some lyrics are "Help my heart, help my soul, help yourself, don't let it get cold.."
I played on two TV programs, first the Lifetime Network movie More Sex and the Single Mom (2005) and second on an episode of Ghost Whisperer (CBS show with Jennifer Love Hewitt). I emailed Lifetime Network, but they did not respond and I am still currently trying to track down the soundtrack for Ghost Whisperer. I have posted this question on 12 different message boards and no one seems to know the answer. I really hope you can help me find this song. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Alan answers:
Great question—and a really tough one to answer. And judging from the multitudes of postings on a variety of message boards, you’re not alone in searching for it. The song seems to have been specially commissioned for More Sex and the Mom. Have you checked the DVD issues of both shows? It may be buried deep within the credits.
