At The Beat Goes On, the very nature of our business is recycling!
We buy unwanted items from our customers & resell them!
However, we do recognize the need to do more. Here are some of our practices already in place:

CD & DVD Cases-

A large percentage of the cases that come in the store are not in re-sellable condition. We use whatever parts of the cases we can & recycle old cases in 2 ways:

Our stores* keep a box of “free used cases” for customers to take. Broken or otherwise non-reusable cases are delivered to a plastics recycling company in Cambridge, ON.
*space permitting

Discs-

We offer defective discs to schools and retirement homes who use them for arts & crafts projects.

 

Paper-

We recycle all paper only after every blank surface is used.
We hire a shredding company to shred & recycle all of our duplicate receipts & office paperwork.

Ink Cartridges-

We get our ink cartridges refilled and/or recycle old cartridges.

Air Conditioning-

During the hot summer months we do not keep our doors open while the air conditioning is running.
We maintain our heating & cooling units each quarter to ensure efficiency.
We only run the Air Conditioning during business hours.

Light Bulbs-

We have replaced all of our light bulbs with fluorescent bulbs which use 1/6 the energy of traditional light bulbs.
We do not leave our lights on when the stores are closed.

We now have reusable cloth bags. These are currently only available in our stores.

Plastic Bags - Like many other retailers we are concerned about the excessive use of plastic bags. We will no longer be handing out bags to each customer; however, they will be available upon request.
